As a result of generous giving by the Kohler community, the Kohler School Foundation was able to grant $79,100 to Kohler Schools to be used for district enhancements.
“Our ability to make such a significant contribution to the school is a direct result of the generous giving by our community, local businesses, parents, and faculty. Events like our annual Fall Follies are not only community building, but help to raise money that feeds our Annual Fund and goes directly back to the students and faculty of Kohler Schools,” stated Kohler School Foundation president, Nina Kohler.
This year’s funding will be directed toward improvements in technology for the entire school’s use which will include two (2) iPad mobile labs consisting of twenty-five units each. Designed to work hand in hand with the recent upgrade that made the entire school wirelessly capable, each of these portable labs can be used by classes in their rooms, then wheeled down the hall for a different project in the next classroom. The grant also funds twenty-five (25) laptops for the school library that students can check out and use for projects.
In addition to technology and classroom academic experiences, the grant provides funding for an experience beyond technology and books. As a result of the contributions to the Foundation, the district is now able to offer a comprehensive high school leadership development program. It is intended to provide an experience which builds a sense of cohesion and team within each high school advisory group. This program is done outside of the classroom, and is designed to be adventurous, challenging, and hands-on experiential learning. The initiative is unique to any offered in Sheboygan County for high school students. Similar adventure leadership development programs are sometimes found in elite private schools and graduate programs. The Foundation is excited to be a part of developing the student as a whole and to help its future graduates learn to be great leaders, team players and creative-thinkers.
The Kohler School Foundation would like to thank its donors, who have been the source of these significant improvements to the district.

Fall Follies, 2011 was an amazing success! We look forward to sharing your generous contributions with the Kohler School District in the coming year. Thanks again to all who participated.
The fifth annual Kohler School Foundation’s Fall Follies event, Saturday October 15, will once again bring together faculty, parents, friends and community to raise funds for academic enhancements that would otherwise not be available through the district’s budget.
Held inside the Food & Wine main stage tent at the Shops at Woodlake, the 2011 Fall Follies is centrally located in the Village. Come join in the fun of a casual evening, perfectly suited for those interested in meeting new people and learning more about what Kohler School District has to offer. From dining at a tasty tailgate, bidding on silent and live auction items, and enjoying live entertainment, there is much to see and do for everyone in attendance.
Past contributions have helped the Kohler School Foundation’s Annual Fund support technology through the purchase of a mobile laptop lab, the construction of a Distance Learning Center, and installation of overhead projection units that bring the world to the classroom through online resources.
Last year, the Foundation supported numerous powerful initiatives including:
In addition to these and other initiatives, the Foundation worked with generous donors to provide $30,000 in scholarships for graduating Seniors in 2011.
The Kohler School Foundation will again be auctioning hand crafted items of Kohler Elementary students created in their visual arts classes. Ambitious projects are already well underway with the guidance of elementary art director, Stacy Stanley. Through these projects, the students learned the art of giving back to the school by donating these items to the Foundation auction to support programs. You may bid on these one-of-a-kind art projects at the event. Four classes are creating original works with both the inspiration from and techniques used by four master artists: Vincent Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, Andy Warhol, and Wisconsin’s own Georgia O’Keefe.
“These students are capable of so much. By exposing them to these artists and their methods, it’s our hope to help them appreciate the visual arts in ways they never have,” says parent volunteer, Jess Childs. “These pieces deserve a special place and I feel great knowing the Foundation will benefit from the kids’ time and talent.”
While the student art projects will be featured, there will be several silent and live auction items available for bidding that night. From groceries to Packer tickets, car washes to extravagant dining, the range of items is far reaching. The event is open to all adults in the community, alumni, friends and parents of the school. Tickets to Fall Follies are $37.50, with a portion designated as tax deductible. The Kohler School Foundation looks forward to seeing you in the main stage tent at the Shops at Woodlake on October 15 from 6:30 to 11pm.
